Newsletter 4 - 2011
Dear Friends
Wow, time certainly flies by. I’m writing this letter with some difficulty and much mixed feelings. This is my last letter from Taiwan as I’ve come to the end of this season and time in Taiwan. There has been much laughter, goodness, hardship, and growth in these last seven years.
During June, I sorted many pictures and helped with preparations for the camp. July during camp I was reminded how Great God is, we started the first camp in 2009 with about 30-35 participants and staff and grown to over a 100 all together during this Gateway camp in July and 20 young people continued on outreach in Taipei and Haulian serving others.
We had participants from 3 different Tribes in Taiwan, a few church groups and missionaries kids. I said I’m very expectant of what God would be doing this year and He did surprise me indeed. God touched young people’s lives in amazing ways; such a deeper level in their walk with God. Many healings and reconciliations took place. One of the teachings was about returning to their first love. The main theme was Go, Partner and Serve (GPS) as a ship follows a radar to keep it on course, we were reminded how God is our direction and guidance to stay in the truth and to keep the 10 commandments.
Even though my main role was photographer and driver, I was amazed at the number of young people that approached me asking for prayer or the moments where God guided me to give a word of wisdom. (See the slideshow on my blog for a visual glimpse of what God has done).
Next step……
I will be leaving Taiwan July 26 arriving in JHB on 27th. I will be taking a year break from full time ministry to recover from burnout and later build a better support team for God willingly another season in Taiwan or where He leads me.
I just want to thank those who felt touched by God to partner with me for the work of the Kingdom in Taiwan on a monthly basis. It has freed me to minister and to bless others, unfortunately it has not been enough and as God leads me in the future to build a better support group, I’ll keep you up to date on my blog about future ministry.

Newsletter 3 - 2011
Dear Friends
I realize there were some who felt the last letter was too much detail, so here is an edited version written in a much better frame of mind.
It has been extremely busy since my return to Taiwan with much to organize for my return to South Africa, brutally sorting, packing and sending stuff home. It always takes time to settle into the pace of Taiwan after visiting South Africa and with only two week before starting at the office made it crunch time to get over jet-lag, etc. There were a lot of personal things that needed to be attended to before my return, so I have been diligently sorting through these. However, it all came together, Praise the Lord.
My housemate and friends prayed for each other and called me to share word with me. They confirmed the new season, needing recovery. My tears of sadness will be the fertilizer for a new garden (season), new active life, (new awakening) and kids ministry. This was confirming and encouraging at the same time.
Just before I started work, there were many parades and noise with the Dragon boat festival for what felt like two days straight and then temple puppet-shows for the rest of the week till midnight. So, I often find myself praying during those times, as it is after all a spiritual battleground.
As I’m going through the previous Gateway Camp photos I’m remind how Great God is, we started of with the first camp with staff from the 6 different nations and our Taiwan local staff and 30 odd participants from 6 different Tribes in Taiwan, namely, Paiwan, Tayal, Taruku, Bunon, Puyuma and the Amis tribe where some destruction of villages were caused by the Typhoon later during outreach that year. Last year I helped out one day driving the shuttle bus getting camper to site and was amazed at how the numbers have doubled. So I’m very expectant of what God will be doing this year.
My upcoming schedule is shown in the side.
Financial Support I really do need people to partner with me in the work of the Kingdom in Taiwan on a monthly basis. This frees me to minister and to bless others. Gateway Taipei Outreach 2011 兒童宣教營
Working alongside a church helping their youth ministry leaders to minister and disciple their kids and youth. Seeing God do huge works in their personal lives, healing hurts, forgiving others etc.
God is good all the time.

Gateway 2009
KKI Taiwan started the Gateway camp in Taiwan in 2009 after it has been taking place in Hong Kong. It was an awesome blessing to train young people and see the growth in their lives.

A detailed update, too detailed for some.
Dear Friends
How do I update you on 4 weeks that feel like forever, yet sooo much have been done. Let me start this way. My schedule has been chaos (for a detailed one please go to my Blog.) till a week ago when I started in the office and finally got over jetlag. My schedule has been extremely different from SA of course, jetlag, disorientation, yet prioritizing things, packing, rest in between and not to mention my very different sleeping pattern (I slept easily till 12pm everyday and then pack in the afternoon). However, it all came together, Praise the Lord.
Within the first two weeks, I got the medical things sorted out before starting in the office. Sold what I could and sent boxes by ship is cheaper. Also I took my camera in to be cleaned from mold and got it back with report that it cannot be cleaned, only change the lens and also that I would not be able to change the settings for fast and good action shots, so they say rather buy a new camera. Therefore, I am looking at the Nikon D3100 or the Sony a33L. I will see how God guides me.
Among packing and cleaning, I tried to throw away the broken huge microwave and I forgot how heavy it was, so just from the shelf to the floor was enough for me to hurt my shoulder and neck all over again. Therefore, packing while getting over jetlag was not the best idea ever, but time wise these two weeks was all I had to do the big stuff as I started at the office on June 7 from 9am-6pm everyday.
Just before I started work, there were many parades and noise with the Dragon boat festival for what felt like two days straight and then temple puppet shows for the rest of the week till midnight.
My coworkers helped me to call, to exchange my air miles for a ticket home and to see how much I’d have to pay in, only to hear that my air miles can only be exchanged for a trip from Bangkok which means its an additional trip to the ticket for SA and I don’t have enough miles as it is. So sadly I cannot change it, but praise the Lord my agent found me the cheapest ticket ever to JHB 28,200.00 TWD = R6, 616.02 ZAR according today’s (June 12) exchange website. Please pray with me for this so I can pay ASAP. I've been selling and doing all i can to pay since my airmiles exchange did not work out as planned.

July 13-18 I will stay at the office and sort camp pictures.
July 18-20 all staff takes a break July 21 I see doctor last time and get asthma pumps
July 22 cancel Medical and any other accounts.
July 26 I fly out, while rest of KKI staff is all over the Island promoting KKI.
27th I will be in JHB for one week or till I can find a way down to PE.
